I doubt this woman ever had a days worth of true joy in her life...one where she quit asking why the birds sang and instead just enjoyed the music. I would much prefer the simple, but powerful talk about this stuff from the likes of Ben Franklin or Abraham Lincoln. I am not impressed. Interesting interview nonetheless. Thumbs up!

Snyder looks like such an idiot in this video

@macdisciple The reason why I said what I said was that Ayn Rand had very few TV appearances. In a TV appearance you get to "meet" the person on a personal level while listening to her tell her side of the story. A book is generally distant. You hear the story, understand the philosophy but don't get to know the author on a personal level if she doesn't want you to. Therefore, all of her few TV appearances are for posterity to meet Ayn Rand the person. Snyder did a great disservice to posterity

Snyder looks a complete fool next to Rand. All human action is based on hedonistic motivation. This is the objective reality. Altruism, self-sacrifice, charity - all these are also hedonistic. We do what is in our best interest. To claim otherwise is to reject reality. The selfless act is only better disguised by our ego. Objectivism peals away the hypocrisy and lays bare the collectivist control mechanisms that permeate our society.

@kk5000home ... Okay, never mind. Sorry. The majority of Snyder's questions suck.
macdisciple (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
@kk5000home ... Snyder is asking questions for people like myself. People who read her books, but felt a little overwhelmed. Sorry, not all of us are brilliant minds, but we still want to learn. Don't be such a pompous ass.

@notbestfriends ... I read it. Nothing changed. I'm still in jail and my cat has herpes.

This man is unworthy of interviewing one of the greatest minds of the past century.
